DAY 17 of Low Carb Life Style!

Day 17: Finally Sharing My Story
 
 
So, today I figured I would finally get my blog up and running. I want to share with everyone the reason behind my complete overhaul of my life! So here we go...
 
 
First of all, as quite a few of you know, I have what is called PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. And it is a BITCH! Basically, my ovaries don't want to work like they should. Without getting into gruesome details, I just don't ovulate. With that comes other issues. My situation is very common with Type 2 diabetes. Basically, I store glucose as fat instead of burning it as energy like most other people. That is where a TON of my weight has come from.
When I went to the lady doctor the last time, I found out it would be pretty much impossible for me to ever carry a baby of my own. With that came alot of emotion. I cried pretty much the whole weekend, and then I ate and ate and ate. When Michael told me that a baby wouldn't change how he felt about me and he still wanted to marry me regardless, I realized there is so much more to life. Something just switched inside me.
 
I decided from that point, I wanted to change. As many of my friends and family know, I have yo-yo dieted for most my life. In high school, I wasn't "skinny" but I was very well proportioned. Then as I graduated and attempted college, the pounds came on. Then came the diagnosis. I've vowed to stick to dieting every single time, but I always got discouraged and gave up.
 
But this time...something has stuck. I think it's because I realized this is a lifestyle... not just a diet. I will have PCOS for the rest of my life, and therefore I will struggle with my weight. But I will not give up and I will not give in. We are getting married on October 5th of this year, and I WILL BE the beautiful bride I always dreamed I would be.
 
I started out this journey...which I'm completely embarrassed to say...at 311.2lbs. The highest I have ever weighed in at...on January 7th.
 
As of today on Day 17, I am at a loss of 15.6lbs!
 
So I will keep this blog going as long as everyone wants me to. Feel free to leave words of encouragement or ideas or anything!

  1. I havent started working out just yet. I've been getting used to the whole food change and new routine. I plan on starting to run this weekend. I am going to train for 2 5ks in April. I know once I start working out, the inches and pounds will start melting off :)
